Somebody's got a case of the Mondays

Is it dull around here or is it just me?
When I used to work in an office, boredom was expected. It wasn’t often but it happened. I fondly recall countless days playing solitaire on the computer because I had nothing to do. And being paid for such behavior. Those were the days.
But when you have your own business, boredom is a luxury.
Most of the time you’re hustling.
Meeting with people.
Trying to drum up business.
Marketing.
Outreach.
Ideation.
Or just endless client work.
It’s exhausting but invigorating!
Back to the mission
After all, you built this! And you love what you do.
You’re passionate about it.
It’s your baby.
You get to evolve and grow.
You get to experiment with offers.
Everything is shiny and new.
You love talking about it.
The world is your oyster.
So. Many. Options.
Record scratch
But that idea train eventually runs dry.
Or at least gets less fun.
You don’t want to keep ideating.
You don’t want to keep looking for business.
You just want to do what you do best.
For me, what lights me up the most is working with individuals.
Helping them finally be able to concisely and excitedly tell their authentic career story.
There’s nothing better than witnessing that transformation from convoluted and confused to compelling and clear.
And while this is what I love, I feel like I’ve strayed a bit.
I do still help individuals, but my focus has been elsewhere.
My focus has been trying to work with companies and teams.
Because I thought I could have more impact that way. After all reaching several has to be better than reaching one, right?
Not necessarily.
So, perhaps the reason I’ve been a tad blah about biz dev is because I lost sight of the thing I love to do the most.
I developed a case of the Mondays, every day.
And while I don’t need to take a drill to my cubicle, I do need to get back to what makes me happy and what I do best.
So, if you’re ready to embrace your Personality Brand and transform your story from blah to boo-yah, let’s chat!
Can Personality Branding prevent ageism?
According to Maureen Wiley Clough, no one ever says "delve deep."
Further, she says if you copy and paste some generic ChatGPT nonsense or write “seasoned executive with 30 years of experience in delivering synergies" or something like that on your LinkedIn profiles...and think it actually works to get a job, then this episode is for you.
I joined her It Gets Late Early podcast to share how you can stand out — and even get hired — by doing something that hopefully we all know how to do: be yourself. On this episode, we talk about:
👏 How to connect the dots across a non-linear career
👏 Why words like “seasoned” belong in the spice drawer
👏 The difference between bragging and showing your value
👏 The one question that unlocked a whole new voice for a client
If you're over 40, looking for your next move, and ready to stop sounding like a résumé template or Chat GPT, this one goes out to you.

If you enjoy my content, have attended a free workshop, or simply want to do something nice, feel free to buy me a coffee (or glass or two of wine).
